On March 18, 2019, the Hunan-based Sinocare Diabetes Public Welfare Foundation Donates RMB 10 million Yuan to the Education Foundation of Central South University, used to support the 8-year students of clinical medicine fromtheCentral South University in studying aPhD at the University of Michigan. Professor Chen Xiang, vice president of Central South University, first introduces the main contents of the donation ceremony to the participating leaders and guests: From 2019 to 2023, Sinocare Diabetes Public Welfare Foundation will donate RMB 2 million Yuan to the Education Foundation of the Central South University every year, totaling to RMB10 million Yuan(RMB10,000,000.00), to set up ‘Sinocare Studying-Abroad Scholarship of the Central South University’ and used to support the 8-year students of clinical medicine from the Central South University in studying aPhD at the University of Michigan.

Professor Chen Xiang says at the ceremony, ‘the Education Foundation of the Central South University will ensure that the donated funds will be fully used for the purposes as stipulated in the agreement, and make joint efforts with the Hunan-based Sinocare Diabetes Public Welfare Foundation to promote the development of diabetes education and prevention undertaking in China.’

At the ceremony, Li Shaobo, initiator of Sinocare Diabetes Public Welfare Foundation, chairman of Sinocare Inc., and general manager recalls his own studying time at Xiangya Medical College and introduces his original aspiration for this donation.: ‘For the overseas joint training for 8-year students of medicine in Xiangya Medical College, this year is the 9th year. The program has made a great contribution to fostering the versatile talents of ‘Clinical + Scientific Research’. We’ve also seen that if we can provide some excellent joint training students with a longer studying opportunity in obtaining a doctorate, which will promote the further improvement and consolidation of scientific research ability. After more than two years of preparation by Professors Tao Lijian, Chen Xiang, Zhou Zhiguang, and Zhang Xin from the Central South University, professor Chen Yuqing from the University of Michigan, and the founder of Sinocare Inc., they have reached a consensus to provide doctoral scholarship for outstanding joint cultivation students. After the establishment of Sinocare Diabetes Public Welfare Foundation, this is not only the first project supported by the Foundation but also the largest program that now accounts for the shares in the Foundation’s funds. We’re looking forward to training top medical scientists for Xiangya Hospital in the future through this program, and making outstanding contributions to the objective of building Central South University as a ‘double first-class’ university .’

Professor Tao Lijian, executive deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Central South University, and vice chairman of the council of the Central South University make a speech at the ceremony, telling of the difficulties in raising funds for the overseas joint training of 8-year medical students from Xiangya Medical College. So, he thanks Mr. Li Shaobo and Ms. Li Xinyi from Sinocare Diabetes Public Welfare Foundation for their support, and enjoins the students from the Central South University to learn from his alumni Mr. Li Shaobo, assume social responsibility, and make due contributions to facilitate the development of China’s health undertakings in the future.

With the approval of the Hunan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs, established on January 11, 2019, its mission is to ‘Help Diabetic Patients Live a Happy and Healthy Life with Education and Innovation’.
