Overview

      Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a life-threatening problem that affects people with diabetes. It occurs when the body starts breaking down fat at a rate that is much too fast. The liver processes the fat into a fuel called ketones, which causes the blood to become acidic.

       Safe AQ KG Blood Glucose and Ketone Monitoring System is designed for easy, user-friendly, convenient operation and only needs a small volume of blood sample. The memory mode allows you to save up to 500 blood glucose test results, 100 blood glucose control solution test results, 100 ketone test results and 100 ketone control solution test results.


Test Principle

                                                              
      Blood glucose test and ketone test are based on measurement of electrical current caused by the reaction of glucose and β-hydroxybutyrate with the reagents (special chemicals) on the electrode of the strip. The blood sample is drawn into the tip of the test strip through capillary action. Glucose andβ-hydroxybutyrate in the sample reacts with the special chemicals and electrons are generated, producing electrical current. The Safe AQ KG meter measures the strength of the electrical current and calculates blood glucose level and ketone level. This will be displayed on meter as mg/dL or mmol/L.
Note: β-hydroxybutyrate is the main substance of ketone.
